About Us

Was established in 1973 as Svendsen- Johnson Funeral Home when Ole Svendsen owner of Svendsen Funeral Home and Waddon Johnson, nephew of Johnson Funeral Home owner Parnell Johnson, merged the two homes to serve Two Harbors and the surrounding area. In 1980 Jerry Cavallin joined the funeral home and after Ole‘s retirement in 1982 and Waddon’s retirement in 1984, the name was changed in 1990.

Previous funeral homes operated on the Cavallin Funeral Home site include Nichols Funeral Home, and Seagren Funeral Home. 

In 1994 Cavallin Funeral Home expanded to serve Cook County, purchasing the former Clothier Funeral Home in Grand Marais.

Jerry's son, Alex Cavallin joined the funeral home in 2010, and assumed ownership of the funeral home in 2024.
