William "Bill" Butz

William “Bill” Ralph Butz, Age 99, of Grand Marais MN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.

Bill was born Aug 7, 1923, in Allentown PA, to Ralph and Minerva (Baer) Butz. He graduated from Allentown High school, then served in the Army Air Corps during World War II for 3 1/2 years. He received a BA in architecture at the University of Minnesota, and a Master’s in City Planning at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After employment with the City of St. Paul for 25 years as a city planner, Bill retired in 1981.

Bill married Doloris (Barnes) in 1961, their daughter Laura was born in 1963, and son Steven was born in 1964.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Minerva; his two sisters, Carolyn Glick and Martha Lundquist; and a nephew, Peter.

He is survived by his children and many nieces and nephews.
