William Duininck

WILLIAM HAROLD DUININCK

William "Bill" Duininck, 88, of Grand Marais, died on Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Cook County North Shore Care Center in Grand Marais.

He was born in Prinsburg, MN to Garrit and Elsie (Mulder) Duininck and was baptized at the Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg.

He graduated from Renville High School in 1941 and later graduated from the Minneapolis Business College. He worked for the International Harvester Company in Minneapolis for 4 years.

On September 13, 1944 he married Lorraine Seaman, and they lived in Minneapolis until 1946 when they moved to Renville, MN. He began his banking career with the O'Connor Bros. State Bank in August of 1946. Bill was appointed Executive Vice President in 1960 and retired from the bank in 1987. They spent their winters in Florida and in 1960, they moved to Willmar.

A long time member of the Christian Reformed Church, he served as treasurer for the Minnesota Christian Reformed Church Classis for about 20 years. He also served on the Renville City Council for several years. After moving to Grand Marais, he became a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Bill is survived by his wife Lorraine; daughter Barbara (Michael) Youngquist of Grand Marais; 2 grandchildren; 4 great-grand children; sister Marianne Koning of Willmar; and brother Roger (Betty) Duininck of St. Cloud.

Visitation will be from Noon until the 1 PM service on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Grand Marais. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be received for Children of Promise Orphanage in Haiti.
