William Dahlgren, 82, of Two Harbors died peacefully at home on Thursday, February 21, 2019.
Bill was born July 13, 1936 to Clarence and Viola (Wuorio) Dahlgren in Duluth and lived for most of his life in Two Harbors. He married Arverne Asher October 13, 1956. As a young man Bill was employed by Hunkin, Arundel, and Dixon during the construction of Reserve Mining, Haack Bros., and LaBounty Construction. In 1965 he went to work as a heavy equipment operator for Lake County, first in the highway department, and later at the landfill, retiring in 1996.
In his free time, Bill enjoyed traveling with Vernie, woodcarving, gardening, fishing, raising mink and other animals, trips to Hole in the Wall Casino in Danbury. He also operated a sawmill from his home for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, June Olson.
Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Arverne; children, Jeff, Mike (Sue), Ken (Shawn) and Dani (Mark) Rafn all of Two Harbors; grandchildren, Bill, Andi, Doug, Jake, Amanda, and Casey; great-granddaughters, Elsa and Lizzie; and a sister, Cheryl (Robert) Lee.
A small gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
