William A. (Bill) Kosiak of Two Harbors died May 15, 2021 at St. Mary’s hospital following complications from surgery.
Bill was born in Two Harbors on July 8, 1952 to Dr. William Kosiak and Muriel Selstad Kosiak. He had a BA in American History and a BS in Elementary Education. He lived in Minneapolis for many years and also traveled the world. He returned to Two Harbors in 1985. As an active community member, he served on the Lake County Board of Commissioners, the Lake County DFL, the Lake County Historical Society, and many other organizations.
Bill’s interests included gardening, photography, history, and art, as well as music, computers, cooking, and travel. Bill was also passionate about politics and formed many lifelong friendships through his work on progressive political causes.
More than anything, Bill was a caring, generous soul, who never tired of helping his friends and neighbors. He will be remembered by so many for his ability to listen, make you laugh and make you think, and for the interest he took in helping others.
He is survived by his siblings Kathy (Karim Kefi) of St. Paul, MN; Tom (Debbie) of Duluth, MN; Cynthia of Two Harbors; Steve (Beth) of Montgomery Village, MD; his nephew Steven Allshouse (Christina); and his nieces Julia Allshouse, Samira Kefi (Michael Mayasich) and Anissa Kefi (Ryan Ekblad); and his aunts Irene Perpich and Eva Robinson, and many cousins.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Bill’s sister, Cindy and his niece, Julia, who returned from California in 2019 to care for him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 7, 2021, in Two Harbors, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charitable or progressive political cause. To share your memories or condolences online please visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
