Wayne Dahl, 93, Two Harbors, died Tuesday, May 12, 2020 in the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Silver Bay, after a life well lived.
Wayne was born December 21, 1926 to Gerhard and Trudie (Nelson) Dahl at the the family home in Boyd, MN, where he grew up, graduating from high school in 1944. Wayne served in the U. S. Army at the end of World War II, and in 1947 moved to Two Harbors. With his brother Ardie, and brother-in-law Russell Nelson, he operated Agate Cleaners and Norge Village Laundromat until retiring in the 1980’s.
Wayne was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, the American Legion, the Lakeview Men’s Golf League and Two Harbors Curling Club.
He enjoyed golf, curling, hunting, downhill and cross-country skiing, and ice skating.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruth Eileen Dahl; a brother, Ardie Dahl; a sister, Shirley Nelson; and a niece, Trudie Nelson Berg.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Leppala; a daughter, Julie (Scott) Wistrom; a son, Charlie (Barbara Sorensen) Dahl; grandchildren, Lee (Caitlin) Wistom, Anna (Jacob) Wistrom-Thesing and Lynn (Eric) Schwarzkopf; great-grandchildren, Henry and Willow Thesing; and nephews, Greg (Betsy) and Gary (Claire) Nelson.
Wayne’s family would like to thank the Minnesota Veteran’s Home for the loving care they provided for the past year.
Private graveside services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery.
