Vivian Hertz, 72, of Silver Bay, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Two Harbors.
She was born on April 7, 1945 to Knute and Ellen (Wiese) Westrom, in Elbow Lake, Minnesota where she grew up on the family farm, and attended schools. As a young lady, she worked at Red Owl Grocery in Elbow Lake, and later moved to Minneapolis where she worked as an accountant at Gamble’s corporate office and met Ken Hertz. They were married on October 23, 1971. Moving to Fergus Falls, Vivian worked at Super GMC, then she and Ken operated their own Gamble’s Hardware in Wells, Minnesota for several years. She later returned to Gamble’s corporate office, then worked for Bemis Bag Co. until moving to Silver Bay in 1991. She was an accountant at North Shore Federal Credit Union until retiring in 2004.
Vivian enjoyed traveling with Ken, reading, and riding long-distance benefit bicycle rides. She was an active volunteer for the United Protestant Church, the Silver Bay Foodshelf and the North Shore Credit Union.
Vivian is survived by her husband, Ken; a brother, David (Judy) Westrom of Elbow Lake; and sisters, Marion (Norm) Berge and Joan Routson both of Moorhead.
Visitation will be from 1 PM until the 2 PM service on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay.
