Viola Jane Aune

Viola Aune, 86, of Clover Valley, died Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at home.

Vi was born December 17, 1937 to Alfred and Vienna (Teppo) Kayras in Virginia, Minnesota and grew up in Cook. She married John Aune on June 7, 1956 and they moved to Two Harbors in 1961, and later to Clover Valley. She was a homemaker through the years, and worked various other jobs outside the home.  

Vi was a member of French River Lutheran Church, an election judge for Alden Township, and an active community volunteer. She enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, baking and gifting her work to others. Proud of her Finnish heritage, Vi will be remembered for her “Sisu”. Her family was her greatest joy.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John.

She is survived by her children, LouAnn (Pete) Hendrickson, Gerry (Susan) Aune, and Charles Aune; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Carol Vranicar, Georgine Wilson, Loren (Sheila) Bergman, Elaine Strandberg, Joyce (Larry) Gunderson, Sherry (Gordon) Kennedy, and Jeffrey Bergman; and many nieces and nephews.
