VERNETTE VIRGINIA HILL
Vernette V. Hill, 87, of Two Harbors, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born March 18, 1923 to Hjalmer and Elida (Reuterberg) Magnuson in Two Harbors where she was a lifelong resident. Vernette married Joseph Libal on February 1, 1941 in Two Harbors. She was a homemaker through the years and raised her family in Two Harbors. Vernette was a leader of the Knife River Valley 4-H club for over 25 years. Her husband Joe preceded her in death in 1978 and in 1984 she married Philip Hill in Anchorage, Alaska. Vernette was a member of the Knife River Valley Friendship Club and enjoyed canning, baking, gardening, crocheting, sewing, and visiting with relatives.
In addition to her first husband Joe, Vernette is preceded in death by her parents, second husband Philip, sister and brothers, Irene, Edwin and Dean Magnuson, and step-son, Ronnie Hill.
Vernette is survived by her sons, Frank (Donna) Libal of Homer, Alaska; John (Cheryl) Libal, Bob (Emmy) Libal, and Gary (Sharon) Libal all of Two Harbors; daughters, Sandra (Joe) Roberts of Duluth, and Rosie (Erless) Burgess of Homer, Alaska; step-son, Harold (Marlene) Hill of Plymouth, MN; step-daughters, Ardis Cardinal of Tennessee, Carol Melser of Montana, Shirley (Merv) Hanson of Two Harbors, and Monica Higgs of Duluth; sister, Edith Flynn of West Palm Beach, Florida; nieces, Valerie McCallister, Ann Libal, and Margaret Horn; nephew, Butch Flynn of Two Harbors; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 18 step-grandchildren, and 20 step-great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
