Tom was born in Minneapolis, MN on January 22, 1930 the 1st of 7 children and died December 1, 2014 at the age of 84.
Tom attended Two Harbors High School. He then joined the Air Force for serving four years with the 15th Reconnaissance Technical Squadron. After discharge he opened a TV repair business and service shop in Two Harbors and later studied engineering at UMD. After UMD, Tom had a wonderful 31 year career working for the Lake County Highway Department. Tom was a man dedicated to his work.
Tom helped develop a rescue squad in Two Harbors and became an EMT. At age 49, he met and married the love of his life, Shirley. They had a happy and fun relationship and shared many common interests. Tom loved and enjoyed family and friends. He was a loving and caring son to his aging mother, visiting her daily. Tom was involved in many activities including scuba diving, skiing, camping, photography, cooking, and theater. Tom was a jack of all trades, master of most.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Shirley Finberg Sullivan; step-son, Lance Finberg; parents, Harold and Angela Sullivan; brother, Daniel; and sister, Nancy.
Tom is survived by step-grandson, Christopher Finberg; sisters, Joan (David) Dobbs of Denver, CO, Rosemary (David) Myers of Amery, WI, and Kathleen (Robert) Hitchcock of Tacoma, WA; brother, Patrick (Dianne) Sullivan of Chippewa Falls, WI; 14 nieces and nephews; and many grand nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Ecumen Scenic Shores for their kindness and care of Tom.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Saturday May 16, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors. After the funeral lunch, burial with military honors will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Two Harbors.
