Shirley Mae Moschet, 89, of Silver Bay, died Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at her home.
Shirley was born December 10, 1927 to Albert and Angeline (St. Louis) Tippett in Iron Mountain, Michigan, where she grew up and graduated from high school. Shirley was employed in Chicago for the federal government, then returned to Iron Mountain, where she worked as a secretary first at an insurance agency, and later at the veteran’s hospital in Iron Mountain. She married Frank Moschet in 1949, and they moved to Duluth in 1951 and to Silver Bay in 1955, where she was employed at William Kelley High School as administrative secretary for several years.
Shirley was a charter member of “The Singing Moms” and was a member of Sychar Lutheran Church where she was active on many boards, WELCA and with the choir and bell choir. She enjoyed cooking, singing, crossword puzzles, cheering for the Minnesota Twins and Vikings (especially against the Packers), and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Karen in 2008; grandchildren, Joshua in 2003 and Christian in 1984; and sisters, Pearl Troyan and Marilyn Struebing.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Frank; sons, Robyn (Barbara) Moschet of Chanhassen, Daniel (Lori) Moschet of Aspen, Colorado, and Eric (Karen) Moschet of Eden Prairie; grandchildren, Jamie (Adam) Edenborg, Anna (Daniel) Rathbun, Matthew Moschet, Emily Moschet, Lindsey (Jack) Rossman, and Thomas Moschet; great-grandchildren Frank William, and Joan Beatrice Rathbun
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday November 17, 2017 at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay, and continuing from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Saturday, November 18, 2017. Burial will be in Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery at a later date.
