Sheridan (Sherry) Peterson, 76, of Two Harbors died on March 19, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.
She was born on March 15, 1946 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and grew up in Duluth. Before graduating from the University of Minnesota, Duluth (UMD), she met the love of her life, Tom Peterson, while attending his philosophy class. They were married on January 8, 1972 and made their home in Two Harbors. Together, they hand-built their log home in Silver Creek Township.
As a child, Sherry sang in the church choir, was a baton twirler, and ski jumped at Chester Bowl Park. From her childhood into adulthood, she could often be found with glasses perched on the tip of her nose, reading a book, while simultaneously knitting and watching TV. As an adult, she became a skilled weaver and loved to sew. Sherry was happiest in the garden and was always trying new floral varieties. She nurtured her beautiful gardens and always had fresh flowers around their home. Well-read and intelligent, Sherry was always aware of what was going on in the world. Politically active since college, she regularly engaged in spirited conversations with friends and family around the table.
A realtor in town for a brief chapter, her favorite endeavor was as the Director of the RJ Houle Visitor Information Center in Two Harbors (before it became the Chamber).
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom; and brother, Steve. Sherry is survived by her daughter, Jessica Peterson; sister, Robin (Bob) Lister; brother, Denny (Sandy) Flynn; and several nieces and nephews.
