Sharon Ann Kelley, age 80, long time resident of Silver Bay, Minnesota, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 10, 2022 after bravely fighting cancer.
Sharon was born June 1, 1941 to Pearl (Hebert) and Leslie Havenor in Marenisco, Michigan; the second youngest of 7 children. Sharon grew up and attended High School in Marenisco before following her sister Joyce to Silver Bay in 1960. There she met Norval Kelley. They married on April 22, 1961. After lovingly raising her 5 children, Sharon worked at the Silver Bay Clinic as a janitor before her retirement. Sharon was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church as a CCD teacher and a member of St. Theresa’s Circle. She was famous for her cinnamon rolls and deviled eggs at church events and loved seeing the smiles they put on faces.
Sharon absolutely lived to bowl and loved her teammates – scoring 200 as recently as this past year. She berry picked like no other – bent over in a berry patch for hours – rain, heat… bears – nothing disuaded her. She absolutely loved playing games and was known to be very lucky at bingo! She was an avid baker and stories abound of her famous “Jelly Roll” and so much more.
Sharon was never standing still and those lucky enough to bump into her would be greeted with a smile and a story that was 10 minutes too long and yet not long enough. If she met a stranger, she was never aware of it.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Pearl (Hebert) and Leslie Havenor; her husband, Norval Kelley; long-time friend and companion, Orlando “Corky” Cortese; brothers and sisters Charles Havenor, Beverly (Carl) Kaufman, Leslie Dale (JoAnn) Havenor, Joyce (George) Rosenau, Russell (Judy) Havenor, Janet (Robert) Mussatti; and son-in-law, Dennis Horn.
She is survived by daughters, Susanne (Mark) Bullock, Linda Horn, Diane (Kenneth) Haugen, Patricia Scoville; son, Robert (Jen) Kelley; 10 grandchildren, Shawn Roland, Jessica Roland, April (Adam) Lewinski, Joshua Kelley, Jonathon Archuletta, Vincent Bellomy, Randee Lynn (Joseph) Horst, Richard Scoville, Lacy Knaffla, Laekyn Kelley; and 6 great-grand children, Hunter Short, Rylan Lewinski, Evelyn Horst, Gunther Lewinski, Caleb Horst, Westley Kelley; and many nieces and nephews.
In her final days, Sharon talked of her excitement to see her friends and family who had gone before her. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
