Sharon L. Bertie, 84, Two Harbors, died Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Diamond Willow-Proctor, after a long battle with dementia.
Sharon was born May 14, 1939, to Melvin and Bertha (Nordling) Loining, and grew up in Knife River, graduating from high school in 1957. She married Richard (RC) Nolander and had three sons, and in 1978 married Dennis Bertie. As a young lady, Sharon worked as a bank teller at Norwest Bank in Two Harbors and later was employed at Jacobson Hardware in Silver Bay and retired as a maintenance clerk at Cyprus-Northshore Mining.
Sharon had been a member of Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay and more recently Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.
She loved to sew and decorate cakes for her grandkids. She also enjoyed fall trips, walking and dancing. She had many friends and enjoyed making memories with them.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Timothy Loining.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Bertie; sons, Richard (Carol) Nolander, Curt (Nedra) Nolander, and David (Sharon) Nolander; grandchildren, Aaron (Jenelyn) Nolander, Amanda (Chuck) Heise, Harper (John) Jehl, Caleb and Jacob Nolander, Kayla Heinzen; great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Noah, Leland, Alias, Isabelle and Jameson; sisters, Corrine Mandelin, Sandy (Danny) Haagensen, and Peggy (Roy) Nurminen; brothers, Darold, Richard (Marilyn), Jeff and Rod (Lori) Loining; god-son, Aric Bergren; many nieces and nephews; and her dog, Meggie.
Private Graveside services will be held in the Summer of 2024.
