Scott Donald Suomi, 40, of Duluth and formerly of Two Harbors, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
He was born November 21, 1974 to Donald and Barbara (Hietala) Suomi in Aurora, Minnesota. Scott grew up in Two Harbors and managed the high school basketball team. He worked for the City of Two Harbors, Bill’s IGA, and for many years at the Plaza Super One, where he was well liked by employees and customers. With the help of DRCC, he had recently achieved the independence he had sought for several years. Scott worked hard to get his driver’s license and took pride in owning and maintain his car. He will be missed by many friends and acquaintances in Duluth and his home town of Two Harbors.
Scott is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara; and grandparents, Arthur and Gertrude Hietala.
He is survived by his aunt and uncle, Susan and Curtis Schmitz of Two Harbors; sister, Tammy Suomi of Brookston; father, Donald of Aurora; niece, Jackie DeFoe of Cloquet; and extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank the THHS Class of ’94, coaches, teachers, and the DRCC staff. Without their support Scott would have never achieved the goals he attained.
A gathering will be held from 1-3 Pm Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Two Harbors Community Center.
