Sandra Kay Gangestad

Sandra K. Gangestad, 74, of Two Harbors died Friday, August 9, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth after a too long battle with cancer. Her family and friends’ hearts were all present and she was surrounded with love.

She was born September 24, 1949 to Milton and Coral (Johnson) Johnson in Two Harbors. Sandee grew up and attended schools in Silver Bay before marrying Melvin Eugene Gangestad in Two Harbors. She worked for a short time at Abalon’s Furniture in Duluth, provided daycare for many children, and helped Gene run Gangestad Construction.

Sandee was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and her sewing club. She also was active in the rug guild and enjoyed card-making, knitting, crocheting and baking. Her greatest joy was family gatherings.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sandee is survived by her husband, Gene; children, Angelina (Jeffry Hexter) Gangestad, Anissa (Larry) Ware, Andrew (Teather) Gangestad, Andrea (Aaren) Petersen, and Amanda (Steven) Kaster; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Terri (Orwoll) Edeen, Mark (Suzan) Johnson, Sherry (Larry) Gilbert, David (Maren) Johnson, Daniel Johnson and Steven (Carrie) Johnson; and a special cousin, Dee Dee Talbott.

Memorials are preferred to the Foundation for Women’s Cancer.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.
