Sam Salveson, 38, Finland, died peacefully on Saturday April 30, 2011 at home.
Sam was born April 6, 1973 to Juel Salveson and Eve Chance in Two Harbors.
He grew up in Finland and after graduating from Kelley High School in Silver Bay, served in the U. S. Navy for 7 years. He returned to Finland in 2001 and was employed as head of security and in various other jobs as needed at Caribou Highlands in Lutsen.
Sam was an avid pool player and enjoyed playing regularly in tournaments. He and his team took first place in the season ending tournament on the day of his death. He also enjoyed fishing and camping.
He is survived by his father, Juel (Teri) of Finland; mother Eve (Paul) Bock of Cotton; sisters Shelley (Matthew) Wycoff of Silver Bay and Maria (David) Armstrong of Apple Valley; step brothers and sisters Angie (Tony Jenrich) Fitzgerald, Brandy (Rob) Hielman, Amy (Jon) Nelson, Thomas (Sara) Beckstrand, Jaki (Eric) Jacobson, Olivia (Andy) Lashinski; and 15 nieces and nephews.
Visitation from 6 PM to 8 PM Thursday May 5, 2011 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. The funeral service will be at 1 PM Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Finland. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
