Ronald Johnson

Ron Johnson, 75, Duluth, died Monday, July 8, 2019 at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Two Harbors.

Ron was born February 2, 1944 to Kenneth R. and Norma (Sjostrom) Johnson in Two Harbors, where he grew up and attended school. After high school Ron attended UMD, then served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1962-1966.  After his discharge, he worked on the ore boats, for Reserve Mining, and sold insurance for Prudential until becoming employed by DM & I R Railroad. He retired as a supervisor in the car and wheel shop in 2000 with over 30 years of service.

Ron was a member of the American Legion.

He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, yardwork, car repair, watching history and cooking shows on TV, and time with family at the cabin on Island Lake.

Ron is survived by his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Coreen (Shane) Anderson; a son, Rick (Ali) Johnson; a sister Carolyn (Wayne) Johnson; grandchildren; Halley, Christine, Courtney, Ben and Caleb; the in-laws, Leonard (Sue) Forsell, Loretta (Jerry) Carlson, David (Annette) Forsell, Terry (Lori) Forsell, and Tad (Stephanie) Forsell; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 12 Noon until the 1 PM Service on Friday, July 12, 2019 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors, followed by burial with military honors in Lakeview Cemetery, Two Harbors.
