Ronald (Ron) Ege, 78, formerly of Little Marais, died Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Diamond Willow Lester Park Assisted Living in Duluth.
He was born April 24, 1935 to Russell and Ruth (Borgersen) Ege in Duluth, and was a lifelong resident of the North Shore. He was married to Noreen Fenstad May 2, 1959 at the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay. Ron served in the United States Army Reserves, stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington. He was employed in the plant at Reserve Mining Company for many years, and later as a truck driver for North Shore Oil and Propane until his retirement.
Ron was a member of the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay and the Little Marais Community Club. He was a gentle loving soul with a penchant for joking and a good laugh. He loved the lake and was most at home when in Little Marais. Ron enjoyed the wildlife, camping and fishing, snowmobiling, motor home trips with Noreen, and time spent together with his family. In recent years he spent most of his time caring for his wife, Noreen.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Noreen in December of 2012; his parents; a brother Russell Jr. in 2000, and an infant sister, Nancy.
Ronald is survived by daughter Diane Ege of Duluth; son, David (Joan) Ege of St. Michael; granddaughter, Kaitlen Ege; and much loved nieces and nephew.
The family wishes to acknowledge the care, love, and support that both Ron and Noreen received at Diamond Willow. The caregivers are held close in heart.
