Ronald Anderson

Ronald Anderson, 85, of Grand Portage, formerly of Grand Marais, died Sunday June 29, 2014 at Cook County North Shore Hospital in Grand Marais.
He was born on January 28, 1929 to Edwin and Eva (Zimmerman) Anderson in Grand Marais. Ron grew up and attended school in Grand Marais, where he was raised by his grandmother, Josephine Zimmerman. He worked as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator in the construction industry, retiring in 1982. Ron and his wife, Donna moved to Grand Portage in 2010.
He enjoyed woodworking and working in his yard landscaping.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Eva Anderson; grandmother, Josephine Zimmerman; son, Gary R. Anderson; and brothers, Jerry Anderson and Jack Robertson.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Donna; children, Terry (Heidi) of Lockport, IN, Jackie Leopold of Grand Portage, Bruce (Margaret) of Phoenix, AZ, Barry (Joy) of Tyler, TX, Noel (Gena) of Thornton, CO, and Ronald (Darlys) of West Fargo, ND; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday July 5, 2014 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Grand Portage.
