Bob Carlson, 88, Two Harbors, died suddenly on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Lake View Memorial Hospital after spending a wonderful evening with his family.
Bob was born on April 18, 1928 to Ernest and Karin “Carrie” (Skoog) Carlson in Geneva, Illinois, and moved to Two Harbors as a teenager. During World War II he served in the U. S. Navy, and during the Korean War served in the Army. He was employed by the DM & I R Railroad for many years, retiring as an engineer. After “retiring”, he enjoyed washing dishes and visiting with people at Betty’s Pies.
Meatball was a member of the American Legion, the Loyal Order of Moose, Vasa Lodge, and Sons of Norway.
He enjoyed traveling with Jessie to Europe, driving to Chicago to visit Kim and her family, collecting Hummel figurines, his daily walks, Bingo, and time with family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jessie; and a daughter, Kristina Peterson, and a great-granddaughter, Josephine.
He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly (Bruce) Ziegler of Ingleside, Illinois; a son, Bill (Philomenia) Carlson of Two Harbors; son-in-law, Bruce Peterson; grandchildren, Steven (Daniela), Matthew, Victoria, Jarrod (Beth), Al, Jaclyn (Ryan), Darren, Justin (Susan), and Jeremy (Jessica); and 12 great-grandchildren;
Visitation will be from 2 PM until the 3:30 PM service on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. Private Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
