Robert McCurdy, 81, of Silver Bay, died suddenly on Monday, September 4, 2017 at his home.
He was born on August 3, 1936, the oldest of 8 children, to George and Margaret (Ryel) McCurdy in Eureka, WI. After graduating high school, Bob moved to Silver Bay where he was employed by Reserve Mining for 10 years, then served in the maintenance department for the Silver Bay Schools, eventually retiring as head of maintenance. Bob also drove bus for the school district for 46 years, retiring in 2012.
He enjoyed spending time at the family cabin, fishing trips to Isle Royal, gardening and traveling with family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; twin sons, Donald and Daniel; and siblings, Donald and Hazel.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean; children, Bobbi (Rick) Boman, Peggi (Chuck) Potter, and Donna (Bob Wolke) McCurdy all of Silver Bay; grandchildren Sarah Crawford, Steven Potter, Robyn Potter, Brandon Boman, Trisha Harrison, Shiloh Boman, Mariah Johnson, James Warzecha, and Amanda Warzecha; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay.
