Robert J. Larkin Jr.

Robert (Bob) Larkin Jr. of Two Harbors, MN passed away after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s on December 1, 2023, at Waterview Shores Care Center with his wife and sons at his side.

Bob was born 80 years ago to Robert Sr. and Lillian Larkin in Austin, MN. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Navy, he graduated from Mankato State University with a BA in accounting. Bob worked as an accountant for many years. He said accounting was more like a hobby because he enjoyed it so much. He continued to work as an accountant with local businesses in Duluth and Two Harbors until he retired in February 2023 from his last business account. He was always highly respected for his work as an accountant.

Bob and Doris were married in 1983 and enjoyed 40 years together as soulmates and best friends. They decided to move from the Twin Cities to Two Harbors in 1995. Bob’s love of Two Harbors and the life they established here enabled him to meet many people and form lifelong friends. He enjoyed serving on several various boards and helping others over the years.

Bob loved to play golf, fish, bowl, and travel. He golfed in 49 states and he and Doris together traveled to 50 states and to Europe 3 times. Bob’s faith in God was an especially important and sustaining part of his life.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Gloria Hareid and Annette Nover; and a baby daughter. He is survived by his wife Doris; sons Jeff (Catherine Fredrick) Larkin, Todd Larkin, Shane (Beth) Williamson; grandchildren Ryan Williamson, Kelsey Williamson; brothers-in-law Bill Hareid, Arnie (Bonnie) Olson, Sherm (Anne) Olson, Russ (Deb) Olson; many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Bob’s Celebration of Life will be January 27, 2024, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors, MN. with visitation from 10AM until services at 11AM. Lunch will be served following services. 

Memorials in honor of Bob may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Community Partners, Parkinson’s Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
