Robert J. Connor, 91, of Silver Bay, died Thursday, April 18, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Bob was born July 21, 1932, to Floyd and Marie (Kologi) Connor in Iona Township, Minnesota. After graduating from school in Browerville, he served in the US Army from 1953 until 1955. On December 29, 1955, Bob married Joanne Thompson and together they made their home in Silver Bay. Bob was employed at Reserve Mining for 30 years, then in his retirement he worked on the construction of the Superior Hiking Trail.
Bob was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Minnesota Trappers’ Association, and the VFW.
He enjoyed all things outdoors; fishing, hunting, trapping, steelhead fishing, hiking, gardening, coaching Little League, and watching high school sports.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eugene, and Romaine; and granddaughter, Carmin.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne; children Linda (Mike) Crow, Jeff Connor, Joe (Dawn) Connor, Mary (Joe) Karpinski, Ben Connor, and Kim (Doug) Johnson; grandchildren Ben, Katie, Jack, Garret, and Kylie; great-grandchildren Sam, Addie, Aidan, Ian, Marlo, Carma, Rheagan, and Ryker; and siblings Joan, Tom, Jerry, and Patti.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Silver Bay.
