Robert W. “Candy Andy” Anderson, 97, Two Harbors, died on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Estates at Greeley in Stillwater.
Bob was born to Einar and Florence (Olson) January 8, 1922 in Two Harbors, where he was a life-long resident. After high school, Bob served in the US Army during World War II, and upon his return, married Mabel Johnson July 21, 1945. He was employed by the DM & IR Railroad as a machinist and ICC Inspector for many years and later operated his own candy vending business. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, wood working, home building & repair and feeding birds & deer at his home.
Bob was a member of the Emmanuel & Knife River Lutheran Church. He served on the Church Council, member of the Vasa Lodge, Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Two Harbors Industrial Development Council, Star City Commission, and Northeastern Minnesota Economic Environmental Council.
He is preceded in death by his wife Mabel, his parents, brother Richard, and sisters Marlene Hogenson and Lois Peterson.
Bob is survived by his sons, Michael (Sandy) and Brian; daughters, Kathleen Anderson and Elizabeth (William) Thompson; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Two Harbors Humane Society, 415 20th Ave. Two Harbors, MN 55616.
Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Knife River Lutheran Church.
