ROBERT L. ABBOTT

Robert L. Abbott, 53, Brimson, passed away on Monday April 4, 2011 at his home.

Bob was born in Duluth on October 1, 1957 to Gerald and Ruth (Sather) Abbott. He grew up in Two Harbors and after graduating from Two Harbors High School in 1975, served in the U. S. Army for 3 years. He worked on fishing boats in Alaska, then on construction during the building of the paper mill in Duluth and later as a wheelsman for U. S. Steel Great Lakes Fleet for twenty years, retiring in 2005.

Bob was a member of Steelworkers 5000 and Labor Local 1091. He loved hunting, fishing and his farm in Brimson.

Bob is survived by his parents, Gerry and Ruth Abbott of Two Harbors; his twin sister, Kathy Dover also of Two Harbors; a nephew, John (Katie) Dover of Duluth; and aunts, Maxine Abbott of Two Harbors, Betty Lou (Dan) Denzler of Proctor, Susan Lamkin of Mankato, and Sandra Rosenberger of Avon; and several cousins.

Private services will be held.
