Dick was born June 26, 1936, to Cleo and Esther (Johnson) Watson in Minneapolis where he grew up and attended school. As a young man he entered the U. S. Air Force and was stationed in Duluth as a radio operator. He met Dorothy Gralewski and they married on February 9, 1957 and have made their home in Two Harbors since 1960. Dick was employed as a heavy equipment operator at Reserve Mining Co. for many years, and later worked in maintenance at Lake View Hospital and Clinic.
Dick was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Loyal Order of Moose, and the American Legion.
He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, gardening, and retirement at Marble Lake. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was always concerned for his family and others.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Ginger, LaVonne, Kathy and Janice.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy; children, Debbie (Rick) Riddell, Roy (Diane) Watson, Cheryl Watson, and Steve Watson; grandchildren, Justin, Lauren, Stephen, Lindsey, Tyler, Trevor, and Brandon; and great-grandchildren, Sydney, Elin, Luna, Ian, Julia, Josie, and Jordan.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors.
