Richard Smith

Richard D. Smith, 55 of Grand Marais, died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the North Shore Hospital in Grand Marais.
He was born July 15, 1960 to Lonny and Yvonne (Anderson) Smith in Grand Marais, where he grew up and graduated from Cook County High School. He worked as a carpenter for different contractors over the years. Richard also ran Smith’s Bait and Tackle for several years. Richie enjoyed fishing, hunting, and auto body work. He suffered a stroke in January of 2008, that changed his life but overcame those challenges and lived each day to the fullest.
He is preceded in death by his father; and his beloved dog, Zoe.
He is survived by his sons, Tyler (Sherri), and Zack; mother, Yvonne; brothers, Lester (Barb), Guy (Nancy), and Lenny; mother of his children and close friend, Renae; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held 1 PM Friday April 15, 2016 at Cornerstone Community Church in Grand Marais.
