Richard “Dick” Daly, 84, of Two Harbors died Thursday, March 14, 2019 in St. Luke’s Hospice after a brief illness, and a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis.
Dick was born November 6, 1934 to James and Clarabelle (Bonneville) Daly in Aitkin where he grew up and attended school. After graduating from high school, Dick attended Army National Guard training where he graduated 1st in his class in Cooking and Baking School. On the 4th of July 1957 he met Darlene Carlsten and they married March 1, 1958, moving to Two Harbors on their honeymoon. Dick was employed at Reserve Mining Company as a welder for many years and later worked as truck driver for several years.
Dick was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and its Men’s Brotherhood, where he took pride in serving his chili.
He enjoyed cooking, reading, fishing, traveling, football, and more than all of these, time with his family
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darlene; sisters, Mary Ann, Pat, Caroline and Linda; and brothers, Mike, Don and John.
He is survived by his daughters, Julie (Ken) Cavallin of Two Harbors and Jennifer Daly (John Olson) of Burnsville; grandchildren, Katie (John) Dover, Matt (Meghan) Cavallin, Marci (Travis Kullhem) Cavallin, and Emily Gottschald; 4 great-grandsons, Samuel, Lane, Isaac, and Judah; a brother, Jim Daly.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Service on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.
