Reuben Kirsch

November 26, 1928 — September 25, 2012

Reuben Kirsch, 83, died unexpectedly at home on September 25, 2012, and quietly took the place prepared for him in the loving arms of God.

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather was born on November 26, 1928, to Erwin and Lenore(Poppler) Kirsch in Victoria, MN. As a young man, he was trained as a carpenter by his father, and later served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Lorraine Olson, and together they moved to the Two Harbors area in 1957, where they raised their family. He was employed at Reserve Mining Company for 29 years, and at Lutheran Social Service for 19 years, where he maintained their facilities with his wide and varied talents.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking and being in the outdoors. But mostly he loved spending time with his grandchildren, in whom he took the greatest pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Virginia, brothers Earl, Larry and David, infant siblings Lowell and Richard, and grandson, Nathan.

Our precious dad will be honored and cherished forever in the hearts of his wife, Lorraine; his son, Steven (Janelle) Kirsch of Kasson, MN; his daughters, Peg (Dave) Lee of Duluth, MN; Beverly (Doug) Hinton Jaeger of Inver Grove Heights, MN; and Karen, (Tom) Andersen of Duluth, MN; grandchildren Phillip, Janae, Gretel, Elsa, Elias, Grace, Levi, Cosette, Montana, Jordan, Emily, and Nicholas; also a sister, LaJune (John) Dobbs; and brothers Glen (Shirley), Jerry (Irene) and Bob.

A strong, constant and unassuming presence in our lives, the void of our quiet father is so loud.

Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am service, which will held on Saturday, September 29th, 2012 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
