RAYMOND ARNOLD BUTLER

Raymond A. Butler, 81, of Silver Bay died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

He was born on May 11, 1929 to Elmer and Olga (Ecklund) Butler in Oak Park, MN. Ray grew up in rural Oak Park and attended rural school, graduating from Foley High School in 1948. He stayed in the area farming until 1956 when he moved to Silver Bay to work at Reserve Mining until his retirement from North Shore Mining in 1992.

Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a member of Sychar Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Eunice, Lillian, and Kenneth.

Ray is survived by wife Mildred; daughter Linda (Al ) Donabauer of Oak Park; granddaughters Heather (Jason) Rosinger of Duelm, MN, Heidi (Brandon) Fischer of Alexandria, MN, and Krista of St. Cloud; great-grandchildren Jack and Nora; and brother Floyd(Petie) of Dayton, MN.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 AM service Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Ronneby, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Sychar Lutheran Church.
