Ralph Halvorson

Ralph Edward Halvorson died peacefully in the loving care and comfort of his family at his daughter and son-in-law's home on Cook Lake on October 15, 2011.

Ralph was born to Torvald and Lotte (Shea) Halvorson on March 15, 1930. He graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1948 on a Friday and went to work for the DM&IR on Monday in the Telephone, Telegraph, and Trains Communication Department. Ralph served in the Army during the Korean War from 1952-1953. He returned to work for the telephone company until his retirement in 1990. Ralph was a member of the Veteran's Club and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents Torvald and Lotte; brothers Erling and Oscar; and brother-in-law Edgar Davis.

Ralph is survived by his 5 children; Cynthia (Peter) Emerson and Jayne (Lowell) Rosendahl of Duluth; Michael (Linda) Halvorson, Tracy Halvorson, and Kristin (John) Hill of Two Harbors; grandchildren Michael (Jennifer) Emerson, Lynnea Berglund, Nicole, Brandon, Ronald, and Lee Rosendahl, Brian and Whitney Hill, Ethan Kessler, and Ashlee Halvorson; great-grandchildren DeMarco and Devon Rosendahl, Annika, Svea, and Peter Emerson II, Caden and Lilly Berglund; one great-grandchild expected in April; sister Margret Davis; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11:30 AM service on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
