Phyllis J. Boggie 96, formerly of Two Harbors, died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Country Manor Health and Rehab in Sartell, Minnesota.
She was born May 28, 1920 to Anthony and Lydia (Petch) Maday in Minneapolis. Phyllis grew up in Minneapolis and Hopkins, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1938. She married Carl Boggie on June 8, 1940. Phyllis was employed at a dress factory for a period of time. She then volunteered and later worked up to be a manager of the food service department for the Bloomington School District from 1964 until her retirement in 1982. Phyllis retired to Two Harbors where she was preceded in death by her husband in 1983. In her retirement years, she spent her time volunteering for meals on wheels, Lake View Nursing Home, organizing various activities at Bayview Terrace Apartments, helping senior citizens with their income taxes, and in other ways.
In 1995, Phyllis was the Lake County Senior Citizen of the Year, and was runner-up for the Minnesota Senior Citizen of the Year. She enjoyed camping, fishing, serving others and just being “Mom.” She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors, and the Women of the Moose.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl, a daughter, Carol Hoff; and brothers, LeRoy and Lester.
She is survived by her sons, Douglas (Glenna) of Raleigh N.C.; Gordon (Vicki) of Bloomington, Minn; and Ralph (Pamela) of Ogilvie, Minn; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; a niece, and two nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Friday March 31, 2017 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
