Peggy Whitaker

Peggy Whitaker, 75, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Lakeview Memorial Hospital in Two Harbors, Minnesota.
She was born February 2, 1939 in Herzberg, Germany. She worked as a cashier at base commissaries, Hansen's Furniture, Gottschalks, and later owned Valley Furniture. After making her home in Atwater, California for many years, she moved to Two Harbors two years ago.
Peggy was a member of the Kiwanis Club. She loved to cook for her family, flower gardening, swimming, long walks by the lake, and views of the forest. She was a champion Yahtzee player.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Heinz and Frida Dietrich; and her longtime companion, Ervin Wiens.
She is survived by five sons, Michael (Denise) of Henderson, NV, Thomas of Two Harbors, Calvin (Amy) of Junction City, KS, Raymond (Lupe) and Steven (Melissa) of Merced, CA; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Giesla (Rolf) Heide and brothers, Frank and Joachim Dietrich all of Germany.
Visitation will be from 9 AM until the 10 AM service on Monday April 14, 2014 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors.
