Paula Johnson

Paula J. Johnson, 91, of Two Harbors died Saturday, October 22, 2016 at St Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.
Paula was born on June 27, 1925 in Des Moines Iowa. She moved to Two Harbors at a young age and was a lifelong resident there, graduating from Two Harbors High School in 1943. After high school, she worked at James Drug Store for 12 years before going to Silver Bay to work for Hunkin, Arundel, and Dixon during the construction of Reserve Mining Company. She moved back to Two Harbors to work for Cooperative Light and Power for 28 years, retiring as office manager in 1985.
Paula enjoyed golf for many years, until a back injury left her unable to play. Since then she fell in love with the violin. Paula married Norman “Tarz” Johnson in 1957 and he preceded her in death in 1999.
She is survived by half brothers David, Donald, and Raymond Huseby; and Leo and Marvin Lahti; and step sister Carla Beck.
Her request is for a graveside gathering “without a lot of flowers and blubbering” at 2 PM on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Lakeview Cemetery. Paula leaves us with these words “Old age is not for sissies.”
