Paul Richard Johnson passed away peacefully in Hospice care at Barross Manor on December 12, 2015.
Paul was born on November 8, 1944, to Harry and Eva (Holmgren) Johnson of Two Harbors. He graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1962 after which he completed studies at the Minnesota School of Business. Following a few years in a management position in Albert Lea, MN, Paul returned to Two Harbors and joined Ray and Muriel Widen in the operation of Ray’s Shoe Center, where he eventually became owner. Paul was a member and board member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, and served on the Board of Directors for the Bayview Terrace.
Paul was a friend to all who knew him. He was an excellent care provider to members of his family and friends. He would always find a way to brighten someone’s day or make them laugh. He was a thoughtful and generous man and enjoyed giving gifts to those he loved. He will be missed by many.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents and brother, David. He is survived by brothers Roger and Robert, sisters-in-law Eileen and Mary Lou Johnson, nephews Todd, Michael, and Mark Johnson, niece Ronnie Johnson, and 4 great nephews and nieces.
His family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Barross Manor and the Hospice team for their care of Paul.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 18, at 2 p.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. A reception will follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Paul’s life.
