Paul Amesbury

January 25, 1937 — June 4, 2017

Paul Amesbury, 80, of Two Harbors died Sunday, June 4, 2017 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born on January 25, 1937 to George and Stella (Byce) Amesbury in Two Harbors, where he was a lifelong resident.  Paul served in the US Army from 1959 to 1961 and while at Army headquarters he served in the Honor Guard for Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy.  Returning to Two Harbors, he was employed as an overhead crane operator for Reserve Mining for 25 years.  Paul met Rose Pluntz and they went dancing on their first date and continued dancing their way through life.

Paul enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and UMD football teams, fishing, woodworking, and coffee at Judy’s Café with friends.

He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where he was a past deacon, American Legion, and a past member of the Two Harbors Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, John, George Jr., Don, and Charles; and 2 sisters, Marian Hedin and Kay Edwardson.

Paul is survived by his wife, Rose; children Valerie (Gary) Jerome, Deborah (Mark) Johnston, Julie (Steve) Lundgren, and Daniel (Cori) Amesbury; grandchildren Sam and Riley Lundgren and Megan and Andrew Amesbury;

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM memorial service on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.
