Palmer F. Berglund, 83, Grand Marais, was doing what he loved best, farming and driving his favorite tractor combining grain, when the Lord called him home on Wednesday September 21, 2016.
Palmer was born September 15, 1933 to Alfred and Signuld (Soderburg) Berglund in Duluth. He grew up on Maple Hill in Grand Marais, and was a lifelong resident. Palmer farmed all of his life, and out of high school hauled pulp wood, later worked as a security guard at Reserve Mining, and was a heavy equipment operator for Cook County Highway department for 30 years, running and grading the roads. Palmer was a member of Cornerstone Community Church. He loved farming, and engineering and spent a lot of his time creating working miniature models of windmills, barns, churches, and more.
Palmer was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Wallace Berglund; an infant son; and step-son, Daniel Schlienz.
He is survived by his wife, Ginger; sons, David (Heidi), Daniel (Rachel), and Dean all of Grand Marais; daughter, Lori Berglund; step-daughter, Bev Wolke; step-son, Wade (Reyna) Schlienz; grandchildren, Matt Ollis, Lyndsay (Kent) Anderson, Justin (Chloe) Berglund, Adriana Berglund, Jade Wolke, Ashley Berglund, Raynee Wolke, Trevor, Tanner, and Tucker Berglund, and Mateo Schlienz; great-granddaughters, Eva and Maya; mother of his children, Jan Berglund; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1 PM until the 2PM Service on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Cornerstone Community Church in Grand Marais. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
