ORRIN JORGENSON
Orrin Jorgenson, 86, passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Minnesota Veteran's Home in Silver Bay.
He was born in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota on October 29, 1924 and grew up on various farms in Otter Tail County.
He served in the US Navy during World War II on the destroyer USS Laws. Orrin married Marjorie Homann on November 25, 1950 in Elizabeth, MN. He worked on the Fergus Dairy and Elizabeth Creamery before moving to Silver Bay in 1956, where he worked for Reserve Mining Company for 30 years before retiring in 1986.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-mother; and two sisters.
Orrin is survived by his wife of 60 years Marjorie; 6 children: Daniel, Barbara (Steve) Peterson, Kathryn (Clayton) Pierce, Constance (Steve) Allar, Mary (Edward) Lashyro, and Amy (Dan) Kerkemeyer; 11 grandchildren: Laura and Sarah Jorgenson, Michael and Laura Peterson, Alana Michalski, Karen Allar McGrane, Jared Allar, Codi Lashyro, Katie Lashyro Aldinger, and Adam and Cole Kerkemeyer; and 3 great-grandchildren, Evan Peterson, Ivy Aldinger, and Liam McGrane.
Orrin's family would like to thank all the kind and compassionate people who cared for him in the Minnesota Veteran's Home.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Silver Bay.
