Orlie Grindeland

Orlie “Mom” Grindeland, 99, of Silver Bay died Friday, July 7, 2023 at Hilltop Health in Duluth.

She was born on September 14, 1923 in Decorah, Iowa where she grew up and attended schools.  Marrying Alden Grindeland on December 9, 1944, they moved to Silver Bay 1955 where she was a homemaker through the years.

Orlie was a member of Sychar Lutheran Church and its Mission Circle and she enjoyed day trips with Alden and Sherry and the “green machine” that Alden built.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Alden in 1994.

Orlie is survived by her daughter, Sherry.  Orlie was known around town as Mom, and replied  “I never knew I had so many kids.”

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay.  Burial will follow at Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery.
