Orla Louise Iverson, 78, long time resident of Silver Bay, MN, died Thursday Feb 17, 2011 at a nursing home in Duluth, MN.
She was born January 7, 1933 to Oscar and Irva (Jordon) Hopland in Guthrie, MN. At the age of 8, Orla moved to Cass Lake where she graduated from high school in 1951. She married Luther Iverson on June 6, 1951. They moved to Silver Bay, MN in 1953 where they lived and were active in the community and Sychar Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Orla moved to a senior living complex in Duluth, after Luther died, to be closer to family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Luther Iverson, daughter Deborah Hudson, grandson Robert Muehlberger, brother Orvin Hopland, sister Helen Benjamin and infant sister Marjorie Hopland.
Orla is survived by son Don (Diane) Iverson of Woodbury, MN; daughter Judy (Mike) Muehlberger of Duluth; son-in-law Ray Hudson of Silver Bay; sisters Marion Vezina, Duluth; Lorraine (Myron) Nyberg, Cass Lake; Ethel Chinn, Babbitt; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church 6th Ave. E and Third St. in Duluth, MN. Visitation with the family will follow the service. Burial will be at Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery, Beaver Bay Township at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Orla and family ask that you make donations to your local American Cancer Societies' 'Relay for Life' program.
