Norma Jean Brubakken, 85, of Two Harbors, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.
She was born on October 4, 1934 to Fred and Mabel (Hardina) Ellestad in Havana, North Dakota, where she grew up and graduated from high school. She married Gardner Brubakken on November 29, 1952 and they made their home in Two Harbors since 1956. While raising her six children, Norma drove school bus and later worked at Superior Shores Resort as head of the laundry, until her retirement.
Norma enjoyed reading, movies, scrabble, decorating and making a great walleye dinner. Anyone who knew her was well aware of her love of flowers and her garden.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, Derwood, Gordy, Royce, Maynard, and Roger; and a sister, Marilyn.
Norma is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gardner; children, Greg Brubakken of California, Cindy (Ron) Svee of Two Harbors, Kim (Tom) Hoffman of Wisconsin, Robin (Andre) Mathieu of Montreal, Quebec, Tracey (Miles) Oswald of California, and Curtis Brubakken of Duluth; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce (Richard) Lekang of Fridley; a brother Don (Cathie) Ellestad of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.
