NANCY QUINLAN OULLIS Nancy Q. Oullis, 81, of Grand Marais, died, peacefully surrounded by her family, Friday May 20, 2011 at the North Shore Care Center.
She was born January 10, 1930 to Jack and Dorothy (O'Malley) Quinlan in Itasca County, Minnesota. Nancy grew up in Hibbing where she graduated from high school. She attended Mills College, in Oakland, California. Nancy married George Oullis July 17, 1948 in Reno, Nevada. They lived in California until 1951, then moved to Duluth and then to Grand Marais. She was an active volunteer who was devoted to community affairs, and was a member of the hospital auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, baking, skiing, and was very in touch with nature, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, and sons, Jack and Terry.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, George of Grand Marais, daughter, Susan (Philippe) Desrochers of New York, son, Jeff (Sue) of Louisiana; grandchildren, Sebastian Desrochers, Austin and Jessica (Jared) Oullis, and Matthew and Riordan G. Oullis; great-grandchildren, Devon Oullis, Derek and Weston.
Memorials are preferred to the North Shore Care Center in appreciation for their wonderful care for our wife and mother.
A Private Graveside Service will be held. A memorial service will be held later this Summer.
