Mille Miller

Mille was born October 11, 1919 to Andrew and Hannah Elisabeth (Haapala) Barthell.

Growing up, she was the youngest, which afforded her some special opportunities. Having older siblings she was never at a loss for friends. She had many playmates, friends, and boyfriends. Mille grew up helping out with many of the chores around the resort and attended the "Little Red School House" in Larsmont. Mille grew up to be an extraordinary adult woman of integrity.

She accepted Jesus into her heart at age 22 while attending the Two Harbors Salvation Army and was baptized at the now Living Waters Fellowship. She later moved to Chicago where she worked as a meter reader during WWII, walking up to 26 miles a day. She later worked as an appliance store sales clerk, before being promoted to store manager.

During those years she was a member of the "Gospel Harmonists", an all women's choir. They sang in the Chicago area in the mid 40's at churchs and "Youth for Christ" meetings where Billy Graham was the featured Evangelist.

In 1948 she married her teenage love Warren Krug Miller. They first met at the family resort when Mille was 15 years old. They had lost contact with each other for a dozen years. However, Mille never forgot her 1st love, Warren. They renewed their acquaintance in 1947, got married in 1948, and in the next 11 years had 6 children: Bill, Tim, Patti-Joy, Geoff, Holly and Warren.

Mille was a loving wife and mother who sought to glorify God throughout her life. One would think her knees must have formed calluses from the many hours she spent on her knees in prayer. In our house no one was ever a stranger, for Mille welcomed everyone in the door as if she were entertaining Christ. Mille passed on a heritage of faithful servant hood to God.

Mille loved music and played piano by ear, strummed a ukulele and could harmonize to any song. Mille was inspired by God to write many choruses which she sang in church.

Mille was lovingly called Baba by her 11 grandchildren and 4 great grand-children. She was preceded in death by her husband Warren Krug Miller, and her daughter Holly-Beth Miller.

For over 40 years, Mille financially supported and faithfully prayed for a succession of at least 10 different boys, through the ministry of World Missionary Evangelism.

Only God knows how large her family in heaven will be.
