Mary M. Olin, 85, Grand Marais, died Sunday, December 13, 2020 in the Minnestoa Veteran’s Home in Silver Bay.
Mary was born November 17, 1935 to Mike and Sophie (Connor) Powell in Grand Marais. She was a member of the American Legion Auxilary and enjoyed bingo, word searches, puzzles, bowling, an occasional slot machine, and most of all, cribbage.
Everyone that knew Mary would say she was always smiling and had the kindest soul that they ever met and completely enjoyed all the time they spent with her. Mary had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready to crack a joke. Most of all, Mary was completely loyal and loving to her family, she gave one of her kidneys to her brother Milt Powell in 1976 and would have given the other if someone would have needed it.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Olin; siblings, Andrew Powell, Michael Powell, Vera Jones, Harry Powell, Myrtle Pederson, and Milt Powell; and her son, Gary Olin.
She is survived by her son, Paul “Willie” Olin (Pam Swenson); grandchildren, Shawn and Cody; great-niece, Sandra McQuatters; and many other family members that loved her dearly.
A private graveside service was held at the Maple Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future.
