Mary Louise Murphy, 81, Two Harbors, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in St. Luke’s Hospice surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born September 30, 1937 to Forrest and Katherine (Diekmann) Gibson on the family farm in Beardsley, MN, the oldest of 12 children. On December 31, 1955 she was united in marriage to Patrick Murphy and they settled on their family homestead in rural Two Harbors in 1957, spending 62 years there. She also served as a union representative while employed at the hospital.
Mary was an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and had served as a parent representative on the Board of Brainerd State Hospital.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and baking; and was honored with several awards for her fruit pies at the Lake County Fairs. Mary enjoyed time at the cabin and her greatest passion was hosting family gatherings.
