Marlyn Clark, 78, of Silver Bay, died unexpectedly Tuesday September 6, 2011 in Silver Bay while enjoying his hobby of flying model airplanes.
He was born May 10, 1933 to Ezra and Olga (Christianson) Clark in Cottonwood County, Minnesota, where he grew up on the family farm near Storden, attended a country school, and graduated from Windom High School. Marlyn married Beverly Berge June 1, 1951 and they moved to the North Shore in 1956, where Marlyn was employed at Reserve Mining Company. He retired as an electrician in 1987 after 31 years. After retiring from Reserve, Marlyn continued to work as an electrician and cabinetmaker.
Marlyn was a member of the Silver Bay Volunteer Fire Department for many years, was a member of the United Protestant Church and the North Shore RC Flying Club. He was an avid reader, photographer, enjoyed family, fishing, and building model boats and airplanes. He loved woodworking including many special projects for his family.
Marlyn is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Leon. He is survived by his loving wife Beverly of 60 years, his six children, Diannia Midbrod of Stillwater, Debra (Steven) Anderson of Two Harbors, Gregory (Carol) Clark of Minnetonka, Lynn (Frank) Faulkner of Washburn, Wisconsin, Teresa (Larry) Lovell, of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Dr. Jay (Bridget) Clark of Minneapolis; fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Moon of Windom and LuEtta Hedrick of Dundee, MN, a sister-in-law, Gracie Clark of Windom and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the 11:30 AM Memorial Service on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay.
