MARLENE VALERIA BANGSUND
Marlene V. Bangsund, 81, Two Harbors, died Thursday, January 12, 2012 in the Lake View Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 16, 1930 to Wesley and Alice (Keller) Holmes in Two Harbors, where she was a life-long resident. She was married to Louis Bangsund on February 15, 1952. Marlene was a dedicated wife and mother throughout the years and devoted her life to caring for her children.
Marlene was a faithful, lifelong member of the United Church and sang in the church choir. In her early years she was a soloist for church events, was a member of the curling club with her husband, and was involved in the VFW Auxiliary.
She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan; enjoyed her fitness group, time with her grandchildren, and her Laura Lane neighborhood. Marlene thoroughly enjoyed animals, music, and reading.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis in 2007; and an infant twin brother.
She is survived by her sons, James of Duluth and Robert (Paula) of Temple, TX; daughters Shari Bangsund of Duluth, Jeanine (Paul) Goeres of Cloquet and Jane (Peter) Geier of Minneapolis; a brother George (Susan) Holmes of Austin, TX; half-brother Donald Holmes; grandchildren Corey, Blake, Ashley, Staci, Eva, Olivia, and John Wesley; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 PM until the 3 PM service on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the United Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Two Harbors.
