Marilyn Reitan

Marilyn Reitan, 85, of Two Harbors, died Friday, August 21, 2015 at Ecumen Scenic Shores.

She was born August 23, 1929 to Paul and Esther (Larson) Essen in Two Harbors where she was a lifelong resident.  She graduated from THHS in 1947 and attended Gustavus Adolphus.  She was employed at First National Bank in Minneapolis, and later First American Bank in Duluth as a secretary in the trust department.  After her marriage to William Reitan on January 20, 1951, she stayed home to raise their three sons, later returning to full time work at the Commercial State Bank until retiring.

Marilyn was a member of the United Church where she served as trustee and on the church council.  She was a member of the Women of the Moose, and the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries. She enjoyed wintering in Florida, and time spent at her summer cabin at Kane Lake with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; a son, Mitch; and a brother, Paul Essen.

Marilyn is survived by her sons, Scott (Sherry), and Brad (Pam) of Two Harbors; grandchildren Rebecca Reitan (Jesse Lundgren), Andy, Rheanna (Will) Anderson, Kendra, Megan, and Ashley, and great-grandchildren Shelby, Savannah, Lola, Carter, Kali, and Elizabeth.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Service Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the United Church.   Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.
