Marie E. Eide, 93, Two Harbors, died Friday October 2, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital.
She was born October 11, 1921 to Nels Ole and Elvira (Anderson) Olson in Two Harbors, where she was a lifelong resident. Marie graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1939, and from the Minnesota Civil Service Business School in Duluth in 1940. She was employed by Jordan’s Grocery and several Lake County offices and was the contact person for The Salvation Army for over 15 years. Marie married Cecil Eide on March 19, 1949.
Marie enjoyed family gatherings, delivering Meals on Wheels, accompanying piano at various church services and for Vasa Chorus, and directing the Silvertones. She was a member of the Sons of Norway and Vasa Lodge, and was a member of The Salvation Army for over 70 years, active in their Home League and Forever 50 Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil; brothers, William, Werner and Paul Olson; son, Dale Eide; son-in-law, John “Doug” Spicer; and an infant grandson, Robert Eide.
Marie is survived by two daughters, Beth (Richard) Rosen of Oklahoma, and RuthAnn Eide of St. Paul; daughter-in-law, Sue Eide of Owatonna; eight grandchildren, Tanner, Jerrod, Zakery, Nathan and Lauranna Spicer (Mitch Eifert), Patrick Eide and Karen and Lisa Eide; 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 2 PM Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. Private burial will be in the Eide family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Two Harbors.
